When playing poker everyone hate's a donkey but playing against donkey's can be very tough, firstly you will need to know what type of donkey you are playing against.
- Has your opponent been playing poorly and losing
- Has your opponent been playing, winning and giving lots of "suck-outs"
The losing donkey is obviously the easiest poker player to play against as they will be a losing player over a long period of time and they will have become a frequent bluffer. Try to isolate these types of donkeys so it is only the two of you in the hand, then try re-raising him with any of the top ten starting hands.
Don't give them too much credit for hands either. If you have any sort of showdown value what so ever then you should consider calling their bets. Set up traps for these types of players if you have a strong hand, let the player bluff and this type of player will often go for the bait when you check.
The winning donkey on the other hand is much harder to play against as usually they aren't donkey's at all but instead good well rounded poker players disguised as a donkey or they have fooled the table into thinking they are a donkey.
These types of players are generally excellent readers of cards and people, do not take these players for fools. The best way to counteract these players is when you have position on them, try to isolate with premium hands only that will play well after the flop and have good value in showdowns.
Remain very selective of your starting hands when playing against this type of player. Winning donkeys will try to show their bluffs in an attempt to de-moralize you into calling their bluffs in later hands, which now more than likely will not be the case.
Remember this, the more you know about any poker player the better you will play against them.
